Police and Public Safety
Dan is grateful for the continued evolution of the Roseville Police Department to one that proactively engages with all in our community and provides information and transparency, all the while maintaining a high expectation of professionalism and ongoing improvement. He opposes efforts to undercut local authority and control of this key function of local government through contracting policing services with the Ramsey County Sheriff’s office or another third party.
Fire and emergency medical services continue to be important to Roseville, and Dan has supported the transition of the Fire Department from part-time paid-on-call firefighters to a core full-time staff to ensure full staffing on all shifts and to stabilize costs of hiring and training new firefighters.
Important public safety related priorities for Dan in the coming years include:
- Continuing to implement body cameras and data reporting for transparency
- Targeting theft and burglary in residential neighborhoods
- Careful consideration of the costs and benefits of the Fire Department’s Phase II staffing proposal, with extensive public input
